Curitiba Climate – what you need to know!
The Curitiba climate is unpredictable. Locals say that the city of Curitiba has all four seasons clearly defined – and “it has all four every day!” This strong variation of temperature and weather in a short space of time is a typical trait of sub tropical weather zones such as the Curitiba climate.
You’ll find the Curitiba weather forecast an important part of your visit – but be prepared for cold waves during the summer as well as heat waves in winter.
Relative humidity in Curitiba is quite high. The city is located on a flat terrained plateau surrounded by higher mountains and has a fair amount of flooding, which keeps the humidity high – winters tend to be wet but mild with temperatures tending to average around 13°C in the coldest months of the year.
Due to its relatively high altitude, Curitiba is colder than many of the other cities in Southern Brazil, even though it is further north, and thus closer to the equator, than many of them.
The warmest months are December through to April. The Curitiba climate is generally pleasant and healthy, although the combination of warmth and high humidity can be uncomfortable at times. Rainfall in Curitiba is highest in the winter months (about May to September) but there tends to be some rain throughout all the year. However, you can expect 8-9 hours of sunshine a day in the summer.
